Real Estate Gifts

A donation of land to the Conservancy can result in significant tax benefits and the transaction is usually easier to complete than selling the land. We have professionals who will work with you to complete the transaction. Real estate that has little or no open space value will be sold, so the Conservancy can use the gift to purchase and protect other open space lands. Open space lands will be protected through the land stewardship program. Conservation easements are another way to protect your land, while retaining ownership.

Including The Conservancy in Your Will or Trust

• A donation can be made during your lifetime, or you can name The Ojai Valley Land Conservancy, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, as a beneficiary in your will or trust.



• A donation can have positive tax implications - for example, minimizing estate taxes, increasing tax deductions for charitable giving, and making it easier to pass on land to your children.



• Your gift will reflect your set of values, and will be put to work in preserving the natural and agricultural heritage of the Ojai Valley.

Your gift or bequest can be named in honor or memory of a family, loved one or friend.

Your gift to the Conservancy will be used to:

• Preserve critical open spaces similar to the Ojai Meadows and Ventura River Preserves.
  
• Restore important natural habitats for the benefit of people and wildlife.
  
• Educate our youth and community to be better stewards of our open spaces.
