Our Community
The Ojai Valley Land Conservancy is a community-based group of private citizens working for the common goal of preserving natural open spaces in the Ojai Valley. Still true to the spirit of a grassroots nonprofit 20 years after the original vision of its founding members, the OVLC consists of a small staff and a a board of directors supported by a community of dedicated members who share a passion for keeping Ojai as it is. A pristine valley with limited development surrounded by vast natural open spaces.

Who are we?
OVLC members are a diverse group encompassing a wide variety of backgrounds, ethnicity, professions, age ranges, financial capacity and interests. We’re anyone who cares about this nest we call Ojai. Many of us live and work here or nearby. Some have second homes here, where they hope to someday retire. Some have moved away, but will always “come home” to Ojai. Though diversity is certain within the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy community, the bond we all share is a love of nature and the wild open spaces of Ojai. The glue that holds us together as a community is our desire to preserve this little valley for our children and grandchildren to come.

We do what we do, for you. Because Ojai’s natural places are the landscape of our lives -and worth protecting.
It takes a community. Please join us!
The OVLC staff, Board of Directors, volunteers and nearly 800 members work together for the common goal of preserving Ojai’s future. By pooling the wide range of resources of its membership, the small staff is able to work continuously to seek out and obtain significant grant funding to acquire and complete ecologic restoration projects throughout the Ojai Valley. In addition to keeping the staff working, member donations are also used to provide leverage for large grants through matching funds which are often required by funders to demonstrate local committment. With the support of community members and local landowners OVLC has preserved over 2000 acres of open space land in the Ojai Valley.
