Volunteering

The continuing success of the Conservancy is due in large part to the overwhelming and consistent support of our dedicated volunteers.

Trail Workers PhotoVolunteers are needed for a whole range of jobs. Join our great staff and volunteers at the office to work on mailings, special projects and other office duties. Wed love to see you a few hours each week or even once a month. Every year brings many special events. Some are designed to honor our donors, while others will have a fundraising theme. We also need help protecting natural resources and educating the public at each of our open space preserve . There are many ways we can use your special talents. Just let us know what youd like to do. Youll find a wonderful group of volunteers all pulling together, having fun, and working to protect the Ojai Valleys vanishing open spaces. So join us!

Volunteer Opportunities:

Events Assistants
During the year OVLC sponsors several fund raising events. Each event has a special theme that requires unique talents.

Office Assistants
Experience the pulse of the Conservancy by working at our office. Meet our staff and volunteers, while working on mailings, special projects and other office duties. We would prefer a weekly commitment of a few hours, but once a month or "on call" would work too.

Preserve Clean-up
Volunteers are needed for monthly clean-ups. If you are interested in helping us keep the Ojai Meadows, Ventura River and other Preserves clean and beautiful, please join us for one and one-half hours each month.

Education Event Assistants
Come experience our new and exciting education program. Its a chance to be outside, learn about the natural world of the Ventura River Watershed and help families better understand the importance of protecting open space for future generations.

Opportunities at Our Open Space Preserves:

Preserve Coordinator
Help train, organize and motivate our volunteers force.

Preserve Hosts
Walk or ride trails and report on Preserve conditions. Contact and educate visitors about the Preserves.

Tree Caretakers
Provide watering and basic care for our old and newly planted native trees.

Trail and Sign Maintenance Assistants
Help keep our trails in good shape for the public's enjoyment and safety.

Preserve Ecologists
Help us to collect wildlife and plant data and implement habitat protection programs throughout our preserve system whether you bring knowledge or just sheer enthusiasm to the effort.

Tour Leaders
Help guide nature walks of the Preserve for school groups and individuals.

Other Opportunities:

Multi-media Presentation Coordinator
Help create a short film or multi-media presentation to promote the mission of the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy. This is an extremely important part of introducing the OVLC to interested parties. We are looking for someone who understands, believes in and wants to spread the vision of preserving open space in Ojai. Whether you have the required technical skills, or the organizational skills to help pull all the different parts (photography, interviews, graphics, duplications, etc.) together, we need you. If you have connections who can help with the technical side, please let us know. And of course, if there is a generous soul out there who would like to underwrite this project, all the better!.

Newsletter Editor/Writer/Designer
Do you have the interest and the skills to help us prepare our newsletter or write an occasional article? We always need a fresh set of eyes for proofing for those of you with a good eye for typos.

Call us! If you would like to help the Conservancy reach its goals through the generous contribution of your time, please call 805.649.OVLC (6852), or email us at ovlc@ovlc.org
